And then . . . one by one the students of her new high school begin to die in a series of gruesome murders. Makani doesn't know who's next on the list. Between this, and a secret scorching relationship with the school weirdo, this school year may turn out to be one to die for . . . literally.
There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins will have you swooning with fear and romance, and is the perfect page-turner for fans of Scream Queens and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Review by Sarah McDuling
I absolutely adore Stephanie Perkins. Her YA contemporary romances are such a joy to read, so much so I’ve read them all multiple times. She knows exactly how to blend humour, romance and raw emotion to tell stories that will have you laughing and crying and grinning and sighing all at once!
When I heard she had written a horror story about a serial killer on the loose in a small town I was both shocked and giddy with glee. One of my favourite authors making the switch into one of my favourite genres? Yes please!!
There’s no denying I’m a sucker for scary movies and I tend to gobble up tales full of horrific murderous violence at an alarming rate. And yet at the same time, I also love a sweet romantic story of young love. Happily, There’s Someone Inside Your House ticks all these boxes for me. It’s horror meets high school and actually reminded me a lot of the Scream movies… except with way more heart!
Written with Stephanie Perkins’ trademark charm and wit, this book utterly beguiled me with it’s endearing characters and adorable romance. It also totally freaked me out! The slowly growing tension as the killer claims more and more victims was so intense! The horror, the suspense, the shocking twists and turns! It was just so COOL!
I had so much fun reading this delicious book, I was too caught up in the story to even think about guessing the identity of the killer. This is a sign of how much I was enjoying myself. Usually I can’t help trying to figure out who the killer is, but this time I was totally lost in the story.
This is quite different from Stephanie Perkins’ previous books, but equally awesome. After reading There’s Someone Inside Your House, I’m pretty sure there’s nothing Stephanie Perkins can’t do. I can’t wait to see what she writes next!
